Guidance for centre users on uploading and submitting NEA sample files online via Centre marks submission (CMS), including candidate sample files and centre document submissions such as candidate identification lists. It explains which components can use online NEA sample submissions, how to prepare files for upload (folder location, supported file types, and naming conventions), and how to input marks, generate samples, upload for auto-tagging, and manage manual tagging. It also covers viewing, finalising, amending, and re-sampling processes, plus supporting appendices.

Overview AQA Centre marks submission now allows schools and colleges to upload and submit NEA sample files (e.g. spoken language tests, performance recordings, candidate record forms) for some components online, rather than sending it to us through the post. Supporting centre documentation can also be uploaded and submitted (e.g. candidate identification list) . The following guidance is to support centres with the gathering, uploading and submitting of NEA sample files online, prior to moderation taking place. Candidate sample submissions may include: • One or more files for each sample candidate (e.g. videos, recordings, candidate record forms, candidate notes) • One or more files for non-sample candidates (e.g. group activities where a candidate in the group is not in the sample) • Candidate record forms Centre document submissions may include: • Candidate identification list Please keep a copy of all the sample files you upload via Centre marks online sample submission. See Appendix 1: Candidate files and centre declarations. Process summary Please note: Examiner marked media uploads (such as Modern Foreign Language speaking tests) are handled differently to online sample submissions. For guidance on these please see the Digital Media Portal centre guidance on our website. Centre marked NEA samples must be uploaded via Centre marks submissions-Marks and samples, they cannot be uploaded via the Digital Media Portal. 2. FAQs

What is the purpose of Centre marks submission (CMS) for NEA samples?

It enables schools and colleges to upload and submit NEA sample files online for moderation, instead of sending materials by post, along with supporting centre documentation when required.

Which types of NEA sample submissions can centres upload?

Centres can upload one or more files for sample candidates (such as videos, recordings, and candidate record forms), one or more files for non-sample candidates, and candidate record forms, plus centre documents like a candidate identification list.

How should centres prepare NEA sample files before uploading?

Save the files in a local folder (not in the cloud), ensure the files are in supported file types, and use the required file-naming convention so the files can be processed during upload and tagging.
