Uploaded by miraaa_2004

Standard drawings provide typical reinforcing bar shapes and bar-hook, cog, and bend details for bridge and other structure construction within specified limitations. Tables define pin diameter relationships (P=nd) and dimensions for obtuse angles, acute-angle bends, and 90° bends, including standard hook and cog arrangements. Notes specify scope exclusions (e.g., slip form, epoxy-coated or galvanized bars, straightened/rebent bends, bundled bars, stainless steel, and strength grades above 500 MPa), steel material requirements, measurement conventions at bends, welding approval rules, and millimetre units. References are given to related departmental documents.

FAQs

What is the purpose and scope of the standard drawing for bar hooks, cogs, and bends?

It provides typical standard detail bar shapes, including hooks, cogs and bends, for use within the drawing’s specified limitations. It is developed in accordance with AS 5100.5 and targets standard detailing used by TMR.

Which reinforcing bars and bend cases are excluded from the hook, cog and bend details?

The notes exclude slip form structural elements, epoxy-coated or galvanised bars, bends that are later straightened or rebent, bundled bars, stainless steel reinforcement, and reinforcing bar strength grades greater than 500 MPa. Project-specific design is required for these cases in accordance with AS 5100.5.

How are pin diameters and bend measurements defined in the document?

For cranking bars, pin diameter rules use P=5d unless otherwise shown. For stirrups/ligatures/ties and for hooks and 90° angle bends, P=3d or P=4d6 apply by grade, and other angle bends use minimum P=4db. Bend measurements are taken from the intersection of the lines along the outer faces of the bar.
