NEW CENTURY Readings BO0K 1A presents two graded comprehension selections designed to build vocabulary, reading strategies, and question-answer skills. The first text explores how scientists tested whether dogs and monkeys can see colours, followed by main-idea and detail questions plus a filled-summary activity. The second selection retells Cinderella, then corrects a common misunderstanding about “glass” shoes by explaining the sound-alike French words “verre” and “vair,” supported by structured comprehension tasks.
