This English storybook, titled "My Best Friend" and authored by Anupa Lal with illustrations by Suvidha Mistry, explores the imaginative bond between a child and her reflection. The narrative follows a young girl who confides in her best friend, who inexplicably resides within the mirror. The story beautifully captures the innocent companionship children often find in their own reflections, portraying a friend who mirrors the child's emotions – sharing her happiness and tears. However, this unique friend remains elusive, unable to communicate audibly or step out to play, adding an element of gentle mystery and longing to their relationship. The story concludes with the child's attempt to engage her mirror-friend, highlighting the desire for shared experiences, and ultimately, a feeling of sadness when the friend cannot reciprocate in the way a real companion would. The book is reformatted for Bloom by Cara Ediger and published by Pratham Books, with a copyright from 2015, granting freedom for commercial use, adaptation, and additions, provided the original copyright and credits are maintained. This tale, while simple, touches upon themes of friendship, imagination, and the subtle complexities of a child's inner world.

Content

I have a friend.

When I am happy, so is she.

When I cry, she cries too.

But I cannot hear her voice. My friend lives inside the mirror.

“Come out,” I tell her,“we will play.”

She does not come out.

I am not happy. I go to sleep.
