Today, his mom toldhim that it was Halloween, and that theywere going to have lots ofcompany. She explainedto him that children woulddress up and knock ontheir door to get Halloween candy.Mr.Boots was excited!Thissounded like a blast.Hecouldn't wait to seeeveryone dressed up inCostumes. The doorbell started ringing, and Mr.Boots could seeseveral children dressed up as pirates, fairies, zombies, and more! There was even a kid dressed up as a cat! This gave him an idea.He was a cat,so why couldn't hedress up as something, too? Then, maybe he could getsome yummy cat treats! He ran into his mom's bedroom to find Calie theCalico napping. His eyes were bright and shiny fromexcitement, and he asked Calie,"Do you want to gotrick-or-treating with me?If you wear a costume, peoplegive you treats!"Calie yawned, and then stood up andstretched. She asked,"What happens if you get a trick, instead?" Mr.Boots thought about this for a moment. He didn'tsee his mom tricking any of the costumed kids."Maybeyou only get tricks if you don't wear a costume.Let's gothrough Mamma's dirty clothes and see if we can makeour own costumes!" Calie helped Mr.Boots rummage in the clothesbasket, and they found some bed sheets.Mr.Bootslooked at the sheets, and wondered if maybe they couldget under the sheets and dress like ghosts? He nosed hisway under, and used his claws to cut out eye and mouthholes. He looked at Calie and said "Boo!"She wasimpressed, and said he looked like a scary ghost.Shewent under the other side of the sheet, and cut out herOwn costume.
