Morning Songs and Other Poems is a lyrical collection by Eiluned Lewis, originally published in 1944 by Macmillan and Co. Ltd. This compilation features a variety of verses, some of which were previously included in her earlier work, December Apples, and others sourced from established publications such as The Observer and The Sunday Times. The collection captures a refined, contemplative poetic style, reflecting the literary landscape of the mid-20th century. Lewis, recognized for her prose and poetry, curates this volume as a dedication to Katrina. The text includes standard bibliographic identifiers of the era, such as the Keele University Library classification. Beyond the poems themselves, the volume serves as an important entry in the author's body of work, which also includes titles like Dew on the Grass and The Captain's Wife. The work is marked by its serene thematic focus, aptly summarized by the epigraph, "Joy cometh in the morning," grounding the reader in a hopeful and rhythmic literary experience.
