Discharge your body by touching a grounded metal object. 3. Point the aperture toward a grounded object and press the ZERO button. 4. Aim the aperture toward the target surface at a distance of 1 in. Adjust the distance until the flashing beams of the LEDs inthe instrument converge. Read the voltage and polarity of the charged surface on the meter display. For additional measurements, repeat step four. To freeze the display, press the HOLD button. To read the voltages, start at a greater distanceto the target as given under specifica

FAQs

How do the Monroe 282IS and 282A-1 meters perform non-contact measurements?

They use a rangefinder LED beam that indicates when the instrument is at the correct distance from the target, enabling consistent readings of field strength and charged surface voltage up to 20 kV.

What accuracy and response time can be expected?

Accuracy is listed as ±5% of reading with zero offset and ±LSD, and response time is typically 80 to 100 msec for 10 to 90% measurement response.

What maintenance is required to keep readings accurate and drift-free?

Replace the battery annually or when BAT appears, and keep the sensor plate and the area around the aperture absolutely clean. Never touch the aperture with anything, even a cotton swab.
