Mistwood Golf Club Case Study The Mistwood Golf Club at Romeoville, Illinois is oneof the top golf training facilities in the country. The new clubhouse is a two-story building of about 26,000 square feet with several office spaces and various facility rooms. In 2014 Quest Design Group (QDG) began working on the project with International Contractors, Inc. (ICI), and in 2016 the Chicago Building Congress recognized the project with a Merit Award. QDG designed the mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection systems for the Mistwood Golf Club’s new clubhouse in 2014. And while the end result is a beautiful, award-winning building, QDG had to overcome some complications. An Award-Winning Project In 2014 QDG worked with ICI on the new clubhouse at the Mistwood Golf Club in Romeoville, Illinois, which is one of the top golf training facilities in the country. They nailed it.” QDG designed a system with convenient and efficient gas fired boilers, hot water handling units, gas fired rooftop units, make up air units, water heaters and exhaust fans serving throughout the building space. The office spaces, pro-shops and storage rooms are heated and cooled with dedicated VAV boxes along with hot water reheat coils served by the boiler system. Suspended unit heaters along with hot water coils from the boiler room heart the cart storage area on the lower level. The other lower level spaces, including locker rooms and restrooms, are served by a separate VAV box system. The restaurant, kitchen and banquet rooms are heated and cooled via separate rooftop units. A total of eight rooftop units are designed and aptly placed in required spaces in the building to maintain space comfort levels. The control systems for the rooftop units and VAV boxes have thermostats located in convenient locations for user friendly functioning and sensors that monitor system performance, maintain thermal comfort conditions, and manage efficient system operation based on varying loads. 2 Mistwood Golf Club Case Study The lighting design included more than 70 different types of lighting fixtures ranging from energy efficient LED lights in the pro shop and bar area to Scottish Farmhouse style fixtures in the restaurant and banquet facility. A central dimming system with over 50 zonesand countless scenes manages the lighting systems for the entire facility. For life safety the entire building is monitored by a state of the art intelligent addressable Fire Alarm Control Panel with the latest firmware. The facility is fed with a 120/208V, 3Ø, 2000 Amp service. The service is split into two categories: general service and emergency service. The general service covers the pro shop, lower level and general office spaces while the golf course area is prone to power outages.
