The Board of Directors ofIFC discussed the President’s Memorandum and a Report and approved an investment in the Base of the Pyramid (BOP) Program (IFC/R2021-0006 ; /1, dated January 22, 2021, and February 2, 2021, respectively) . The investment comprises a global financing program, as an extension ofthe IFC Fast Track COVID-19 Facility/Financial Institutions Group Envelope, for a total amount of up to US$400 million to support IFC’s financial service provider clients. The BOP Program, with a duration of 18 months to mitigate the impact of the COVID-19 crisis, will offer senior loans of up to three years in tenor and will be made available globally. The Board of Directors authorized the use of delegated authority by management to undertake investments to existing clients under the BOP. The Board of Directors adopted Resolution No. IFC2021-0003. Messrs. Haarde and Putscher wished to be recorded as abstaining. The Executive Directors of IDA discussed the President’s Memorandum and Recommendation (IDA/R2021-0013, dated January 22, 2021) and approved an allocation of US$80 million from the IDA19 IFC-MIGA PSW BFF to support IFC’s investment in the BOP Program, complementing the World Bank Group’s COIVD-19 pandemic crisis response for the financial sector in IDA PSW eligible countries on the terms and conditions set out in the President’s Memorandum.
