Moss Motors, Ltd. 440 Rutherford Street Goleta, CA 93117 FALL \ WINTER 2018 MGB & MGC MGB-101 MOSS MOTORS, LTD. As original as you’d like it to be. “Is that photo on the cover a picture of George Washington’s interior?” It’s not an entirely unreasonable question. The handle has been replaced many times, but the blade only once or twice. When first shown the photos for our latest round of catalog covers, my knee-jerk reaction was to say no, because our customers wouldn’t like a set of aspirational photos showing highly visible,“not original” parts. But I had to ask myself, what is incorrect, and by who’s standard? I’m the guy who says I’ve never tried to make a car original because someone else would always do a better job. And, if held to the same standard above, my whole collection would fail. The thing is, it’s not someone else’s car, it’s yours, and you should do with it as you please. We cannot count the number of spectacularly flawless and accurate restorations we have seen. There are seemingly no limits to the quality of workmanship one may find at a car show. Sometimes, however, this fact can be daunting to those of us less able, or willing, togo the originality route. With that in mind, this round of covers celebrates individual tastes. Go ahead and slap that SpongeBob sticker over the speedo. Old British cars aren’t that fast anyway.
