Mathematical Process Standards - 7.1 - Mathematical processes

Sep 30, 2026

Mathematical Process Standards define what students should do to acquire and demonstrate mathematical understanding. The materials list seven process components, including applying mathematics to everyday, social, and workplace problems; using a structured problem-solving model; selecting tools such as manipulatives and technology; and communicating reasoning through multiple representations. They also cover creating representations, analyzing relationships, and displaying and justifying arguments using precise mathematical language. Following this, the document outlines knowledge and skills for number, operations, proportionality, expressions and equations, and personal financial literacy.
