Utah Tech University 2026-2027 Catalog 1 Master of Marriage and Family Therapy, MMFT Program Description The Marriage and Family Therapy Master's Program is to prepare competent and ethical mental health professionals dedicated to improving the human condition through both prevention and intervention. As such, this degree will provide necessary experience to prepare students for licensure as Marriage and Family Therapists, with the curriculum providing extensive opportunities through clinical practicum courses to develop their skills in practical environments. Program faculty emphasize a multilevel, systemic perspective that includes individual internal relationship processes and reflects cultural meanings, constraints, and global complexity, with a particular focus on working with children. | Professional Licensure/Certification (PLC) Requirements
The curriculum for programs at Utah Tech University leading to professional licensure are designed to prepare students for Utah licensure and certification requirements. • Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Family & Consumer Science, Human Development, or other closely-related field
• Completion of the following coursework: Introduction to Psychology/General Psychology, Lifespan Development (or equivalent), and Abnormal Psychology by start date
• GRE score at or about the 40th percentile preferred (This requirement is currently frozen and not required) .
• 3.0 or higher GPA on last 60 semester or 90 quarter credits with specific emphasis on Family Studies and Psychology classes
• Transcripts of all college/university credits
• Three (3) letters of recommendation
• Personal Statement of purpose
