Mape the Dancing Ape is an English storybook written by Sean Whitehead with illustrations by Sean Whitehead and Lisa Treffry-Goatley. The story, copyrighted in 2016, follows Mape, a sad ape who is sent away from home by his mother. Mape is so unhappy that he refuses to eat his bananas or any of his fruit, and he is also very tired. His sadness leads him to fall out of a tree while sleeping, experiencing a loud impact. As bushes move around him, Mape becomes scared and lacks the energy to escape. Just as he feels extreme fear, an apple falls from a tree nearby, presented by the illustrators with vibrant imagery of various fruits and leaves, hinting at a potential turning point in his sadness.
