About this Manual This manual describes the procedures that are required to use the Machine Controller, from installation and connections to programming , trial operation, and debugging. Read this manual carefully to ensure the correct usage of the Machine Controller and apply the Machine Controller to control your manufacturing system. Keep this manual in a safe place so that it can be referred to whenever necessary. Using this Manual 􀂋 Basic Terms Unless otherwise specified, the following definitions are used: | Basic Terms | Meaning | | --- | --- | | Machine Controller | A generic name for the following MP3000 Machine Controllers:
MP3200 and MP3300 | | MPE720 | The Engineering Tool or a personal computer running the Engineering Tool | | PLC | A Programmable Logic Controller | | MP3200 | A generic name for the Power Supply Unit, CPU Unit, Base Unit, and Rack Expansion Interface Unit | | MP3300 | A generic name for the CPU Module and Base Unit. | | Motion Control Function Modules | The Function Modules in the Motion Modules and the Function Modules in the SVC/SVR or SVC32/SVR32 built into the CPU Units/CPU Modules. | | Communications Function Modules | The Function Modules in the Communications Modules and the Function Modules in the 218IFD built into the CPU Units/CPU Modules. | 􀂋 Manual Configuration This manual is structured according to the following flow of setup procedures . ~~ ~~ 2.1 MP3200 Installation ~~ ~~ 2.2 MP3300 Installation ~~ ~~ 2.3 Connecting Devices ~~ ~~ 3.2 MPE720 Installation ~~ ~~ 3.3 Creating a Project File ~~ ~~ 3.4 Self Configuration ~~ ~~ 3.5 Placing the MPE720 Online ~~ ~~ 3.6 Device-specific Settings ~~ ~~ 3.7 Test Run ~~ ~~ 4.2 Creating Ladder Programs ~~ ~~ 4.3 Creating Motion Programs ~~ ~~ 4.4 Creating a Sequence Program ~~ ~~ 4.5 Transferring Data with the MPE720 ~~ ~~ 4.6 Data Transfer without Using the MPE720 ~~ ~~ 5.1 Debugging Ladder Programs ~~ ~~ 5.2 Debugging a Motion or a Sequence Program ~~ ~~ 5.3 Monitoring Machine Operation 􀂋 MPE720 Engineering Tool Version Number In this manual, the operation of MPE720 is described using screen captures of MPE720 version 7. For this reason, the screen captures and some descriptions may differ for MPE720 version 6. 􀂋 Indication of Reverse Signals In this manual, the names of reverse signals (ones that are valid when low) are written with a forward slash (/) before the signal name, as shown in the following example: Notation Examples • S-ON = /S-ON • P-CON = /P-CON 􀂋 Terms Used to Describe “Torque” Although the term “torque” is commonly used when describing rotary Servomotors and “force” is used when describing linear Servomotors, this manual uses “torque”when describing either one (excluding parameter names) . 􀂋 Copyrights • MECHATROLINK is a trademark of the MECHATROLINK Me

FAQs

What installation and connection steps are covered for MP3000 system setup?

The manual outlines MP3200 and MP3300 installation, connecting devices, and preparing the MPE720 engineering tool. It also includes self-configuration, placing MPE720 online, and device-specific settings before test run.

How does the manual instruct using MPE720 when creating and transferring programs?

It describes creating a project file and self configuration with MPE720, then creating ladder, motion, and sequence programs. It also covers transferring data with MPE720 and an alternative method for data transfer without using MPE720.

What special notation and terminology rules does the manual define?

Reverse signals valid when low are written with a forward slash (/) before the signal name. The manual also states it uses “torque” for both rotary and linear servomotors (excluding parameter names), and it standardizes visual aids like Important/Note/Example.
