Technical Data Sheet LOCTITE® 680™ (TDS for the new formulation of LOCTITE® 680™) August 2016 PRODUCT DESCRIPTION LOCTITE® 680™ provides the following product characteristics: | Technology | Acrylic | | --- | --- | | Chemical Type | Methacrylate ester | | Appearance (uncured) | Green liquidLMS | | Fluorescence | Positive under UV lightLMS | | Components | One component
requires no mixing | | Viscosity | Medium | | Cure | Anaerobic | | Secondary Cure | Activator | | Application | Retaining | | Strength | High | LOCTITE® 680™ is designed for the bonding of cylindrical fitting parts, particularly where low viscosity is required. The product cures when confined in the absence of air between close fitting metal surfaces and prevents loosening and leakage from shock and vibration. LOCTITE® 680™ provides robust curing performance. It not only works on active metals (e.g. mild steel) but also on passive substrates such as stainless steel and plated surfaces. The product offers high temperature performance and oil tolerance. It tolerates minor surface contaminations from various oils, such as cutting, lubrication, anti-corrosion and protection fluids. This Technical Data Sheet is valid for LOCTITE® 680™ manufactured from the dates outlined in the"Manufacturing Date Reference" section. NSF International Certified to ANSI/NSF Standard 61 for use in commercial and residential potable water systems not exceeding 82° C. Note: This is a regional approval. FAQs

What type of adhesive is LOCTITE® 680™ and how does it cure?

LOCTITE® 680™ is a one-component acrylic (methacrylate ester) retaining compound. It cures anaerobically, with secondary cure supported by an activator when air is absent between close-fitting metal surfaces.

What bonding situations is LOCTITE® 680™ designed for?

It is designed for bonding cylindrical fitting parts, especially when low viscosity is required. It helps prevent loosening and leakage caused by shock and vibration.

How do substrate, bond gap, and temperature affect curing performance?

The cure speed depends on the substrate, the bondline gap, and the temperature. The sheet includes graphs showing shear strength development over time under conditions tested according to ISO 10123.
