This story, "Let's Have a Water Fight!" by Anna Farida and Evi Shelvia, presents a narrative about children playing and a sudden flood. The story begins with children engrossed in building sand houses on a hot day. Their efforts are abruptly interrupted by a rush of water that collapses their structures, leaving them in shock. Among them, Alif, who is described as being reserved and not typically playing with others, reacts with laughter. The narrative highlights a challenging interaction between the narrator and Alif, who is the same age but exhibits childlike behavior and difficulty in communication. There's a concern about Alif approaching the water bottles, and the narrator attempts to keep them safe by hiding them in a breadfruit tree. Alif's fascination with the swaying bottles and his call for water suggest he might be truly thirsty, leading the narrator to offer him a water bottle. In a surprising turn, Alif pours the water onto the ground and joyfully plays in the resulting puddle. The story seems to explore themes of childhood play, unexpected events, sibling or peer dynamics, and understanding different developmental stages. The imagery supports the narrative, depicting children, sand structures, a flood, a tree, and water bottles, all contributing to the unfolding events of the story.
