FAQs

What is the main difference between a leader and a manager in this handout?

A leader does the right thing for people, protecting and serving others, while a manager does things right by providing clarity and aligning execution to values and goals.

What are the three things a good manager provides?

A good manager provides three things: clarity, clarity, and clarity—covering company values, what needs to be done, and how it should be done to define “what good looks like.”

Why is leadership described as having a “cost,” and what risks are noted?

The handout states that leadership limits selfish behavior, you take the hit when things don’t work out, and you must stand your ground by protecting others—meaning leaders risk taking blame when failures occur.
