"Lara the Yellow Ladybird" is a children's story about a special ladybird named Lara who has bright yellow wings instead of the usual red. Despite her unique feature being loved by everyone around her, Lara longs to be like the other ladybirds and wishes for red wings. The story explores themes of self-acceptance and embracing individuality. It is part of the "Education for Life" program produced for Papua New Guinea, aiming to improve elementary standards. The book is also available as a 'Talking Book,' which can be read and listened to on mobile devices by downloading the 'Talking Books' app from www.mytalkingbooks.org. The narrative highlights Lara's experiences at school, where she plays with many friends, including Sesa, the sulky spider, who is happy to see her. Lara's desire to conform to the norm sets the stage for a journey of self-discovery and learning to appreciate her own distinctiveness.
