L.A. Panel Wants To Revamp CTTY Approach To Gang Prevention

Oct 13, 2026

Law enforcement and local officials outline a consolidated anti-gang strategy proposed for Los Angeles, branded “L.A. Bridges,” aimed at nearly doubling funding for at-risk youth and focusing on middle school students most vulnerable to gang recruitment. A four-year pilot would establish homework centers, parent-youth bonding programs, and conflict-resolution teams across high-crime neighborhoods, with additional schools added if funding allows. The proposal follows prior gang violence and the death of Stephanie Kuhen, and it will be overseen through city departments and nonprofit agencies.
