FAQs

What pre-exam preparations are required for OSCE competency assessment?

Develop clear scenarios and blueprints, ensure tasks assess the intended clinical competencies, prepare stations and tasks, verify equipment readiness, address any technical issues, brief students on format/timings/expectations, train expert assistants, and ensure confidentiality and security.

How are students allocated and rotated across OSCE stations?

Students are allocated to OSCE stations (3 students per specialty at a time). Rotate students among stations for about 20 minutes per station set (15 minutes for procedure and 5 minutes for interpretation), with 5 minutes for movement between stations; one group time per specialty area is 1 hour.

How are OSCE scores calculated and evaluated for pass/fail?

Use appropriate checklists/rating scales to assess objectively, calculate each station score and overall exam scores. Procedure and interpretation stations have defined time and marks distribution, and total marks per specialty sum to 20, with overall total (five specialties) reaching 100; pass/fail criteria are determined after scoring.
