Introduction outlines the IELTS purpose as a widely recognized assessment of English language ability for people who need to study or work in English-speaking contexts. It frames the Practice Tests as a way to help candidates judge whether their current level meets IELTS requirements. The overview explains IELTS ownership and where further information can be found, then details the test format and structure, including the four components, the difference between Academic and General Training modules, and the standard sequence of Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking.
