INTEGRITY is indexed in THE CATHOLIC PERIODICAL INDEX # E D ITO R IA L VE in Paradise had none of the problems a newbride faces today. Her home came to her alreadymade, while her descendants find the making oftheir homes a complex task. We wish to point out two dangers which must beavoided if the home is to be made well. The firstis the danger of over-simplifying the building of theChristian home.Simplicity is a wonderful thing, but there are other things in successful home making besides hav-ing many children and teaching them their prayers.True sim-plicity is achieved not by ignoring the many aspects of reality, norby being oblivious to details, but by putting them in their properplace and unifying them in the scheme of loving God and neigh-bor. The second danger is that, even though we do not accept it,we may be influenced by the modern concept of the neuter sex.Man and woman considered identical in function soon becomeneither masculine nor feminine but neuter. In this new order thehusband and wife both work at jobs outside the home(in factthe young bride today is frequently considered lazy and remiss inher duty if she does not)and are equally adept at thawing out theBirdseye peas and putting on the supper. The only differentiatingfunction that still remains is child-bearing,and according to arecent article in Charm that need only take the woman away fromher job for six weeks! In this issue then we are concerned with all the factors thatmust be considered in the making of the Christian home withspecial attention given to the distinct—although never inde-pendent—contribution of husband and wife. * We ask you to note our new address. We hope our movingwon't inconvenience any of our subscribers. It is just that—likeso many other people—we have an unbalanced budget, and con-sequently were overjoyed at the opportunity of cutting down onthe rent. THE EDITOR INTEGRITY-1 # The Making of the Home M RS.STANCIOFF writes about the requirements for successfulhome making not only from the practice she has had with sevenchildren, but with the_newly-acquired dignity of a grandmother. The Stancioffs live in Frederick,Maryland. Marion Mitchell Stancioff:"In my Father's house there aremany mansions."Diversity has its place on earth as it has inHeaven. There is no definite immutable pattern for the Christianhome. There are only definite immutable principles for Christiansto live by and the way these shall be applied varies with time andplace, with function and position, with taste and with talent,intelli-gence and education. ## no standardization As every city and every nation has ts specific character, soeach family too has its own,its familiar style. Each home haswhat gardeners, speaking of the characteristic structure of a plant, call its "habit."Any idea of home making which does not allowfirst and foremost for this diversity
