IAS/IFRS Summary Notes focus on the Conceptual and Regulatory Framework for Financial Reporting, explaining how the IFRS Framework underpins the preparation and presentation of financial statements for external users. The notes outline the framework’s purpose, emphasizing consistent standard-setting, guidance for unresolved accounting issues, and its role in improving users’ understanding while balancing strengths such as principled, proactive policy selection against limitations like fit for all stakeholders. The framework’s goal to deliver decision-useful information is clarified through relevance and faithful representation, including comparability, verifiability, timeliness, and understandability, followed by the five fundamental elements—assets, liabilities, equity, income, and expenses. Asset recognition and control, and liability definitions are addressed in practical terms.
