Oct 16, 2026

Honouring the truth, reconciling for the future presents the summary of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada’s final report, focused on the residential school system for Aboriginal children. It explains how the schools separated children from families, weakened cultural ties, and sought to indoctrinate them into the dominant Euro-Christian society. Drawing on testimony from more than 6,000 witnesses, it outlines key findings, the legacy of harm, and how reconciliation depends on mutual respect and rejecting racist foundations.
