This document outlines the guidelines for the High School Heroes program, a blood donor initiative designed to cultivate future blood donors by offering grants to schools that encourage student, staff, and faculty participation in successful lifesaving blood drives. To qualify, schools must host at least two blood drives annually in partnership with Shepeard Community Blood Center. For each donation collected, the school earns $20, with automated device donations yielding $40. Shepeard will also reimburse the cost of one substitute teacher for drives exceeding 30 units, enabling the drive chair to focus on facilitating the event. Grant checks are distributed between May 1st and June 30th and are made out to the school itself. The High School Heroes program cannot be combined with other Shepeard promotions. Funds received must directly benefit students through scholarships for higher education, technical schools, or certification classes; supplies, tools, or technology to promote academic achievement; or scholarships for academic conferences and competitions. Schools may establish further criteria for fund allocation. The school Principal holds the ultimate authority over funding decisions, provided they align with the program's stated uses. Participants are required to sign to agree to these terms after discussing the program with a Shepeard representative.
