High Magnitude Advanced Colorectal Cancer at Diagnosis in Ethiopian Patients - Imaging Pattern and Associated Factors

Colorectal cancer (CRC) remains a highly prevalent malignancy, with increasing incidence among younger patients in developing settings. This descriptive cross-sectional study evaluates staging and radiologic imaging patterns of CRC at diagnosis in Ethiopian patients using consecutive cases from radiology and oncology. Among 132 patients (M:F=2.4:1; mean age 46 years), 84.5% presented at an advanced stage and 32% had distant metastasis. Imaging features and symptoms differed by tumor side, and young age related to advanced stage. Findings highlight the need for heightened suspicion in patients with rectal bleeding and bowel habit change.
