Greeting Card Happy Kits

Hapyts Help make a child or parent’s day by assembling a Happy Kit! Kits are used throughout CAMC Women and Children’s Hospital to help patients and families feel welcome and happy during their visit. Happy Kits can be assembled off-site and delivered to the hospital after following the procedures described in our Community Serving instructions. Be sure to call Volunteer Services at (304) 388-7426 if you have any questions. Types of Happy Kits: PreK/Kindergarten Elementary age Teens and adult Greeting Card Guidelines The health and safety of our patients is our top priority. When we accept your generous donations , we ask that Happy Kit contents follow these guidelines. We will happily accept Happy Kits with contents that are: Brand new (including books) Nontoxic and latex-free Odor-free Season specific (fall leaves , snowflakes , pumpkins) Unfortunately , we cannot accept Happy Kits if the contents are: Gently used (books , magazines , toys) Any kind of food or anything edible A choking hazard (i.e. , smaller than a quarter) Contain latex or toxins (check labels carefully) Have been stored or displayed for any length of time. Promote violence (i.e. , guns , swords , light sabers , etc.) Connected to a religious holiday (i.e. , Christmas , Easter , Hanukkah , Ramadan) Pre-K/Kindergarten Happy Kits Supply List (ages 2 to 6) One gallon sized sealable bag One pack of Crayola brand crayons (8 to 16 pack preferred) One small new board book for ages 2 to 3 or one small book for ages 4 to 6 One coloring book (age-appropriate) One Hot Wheels car (optional) Print and attach 2x4 label to each sealed bag. Considerations: Themes for this age group includes shapes , cars/trucks , Disney characters , science and nature and farm animals Elementary Age Happy Kits Supply list (ages 7 to 12) One gallon sized sealable bag One coloring book (age appropriate) One pack of Crayola brand crayons (8 or 16 count packs preferred) Card games (Go Fish , Crazy 8’s , Uno , etc.) One small , new book OR one of the magazines listed below: Sports Illustrated Kids National Geographic Kids/Little Kids Highlights Kids Discover American Girl Discovery Girls Bubbles (optional) . Must say non-toxic on individual bottle. Print and attach 2x4 label to each sealed bag. Click here. Teen and Adult Happy Kits Supply List (ages 7 to 12) One gallon sized sealable bag Adult coloring book , coloring book pages , word search or crossword One package of colored pencils (12 count packs preferred) Card games (Phase 10 , Uno , Skip Bo , etc.) Writing journal Print and attach 2x4 label to each sealed bag. Click here. Considerations: Some of our patients are not able to eat or drink during their visit so we ask that you please avoid items with a food them in your Happy Kits. Greeting Card Happy Kits These Happy Kits are filled with supplies to help our patients make their own cards for others (i.e. , parents , siblings , or nurses) . Supply List One gallon sized sealable bag Construction paper , card stock or blank cardstock cards Writing utensils to create custom cards.
