God’s Tribesman, The Rochunga Pudaite Story By James and Marti Hefley A member of a tribe of former headhunters, he left the jungle to become a “heart-hunter.” Be sure to meet Ro and his talented Hmar wife. . . . Their story is fascinating and would be incredible were it not for Ro’s faith in God. —W. Cameron Townsend Wycliffe Bible Translators Ro Pudaite’s story is not half told, and already he is a living legend. An up-to-date Christian biography that illustrates what the Spirit of God can do when he fills a man to the top.—Sherwood E. Wirt Decision magazine [Rochunga Pudaite’s] personal story is one of the most exciting and heart filling you’ll ever read—to me, it could be added as an appendage to the Book of Acts.—Pat Boone It is inconceivable that anyone can read this book through and miss the Book of Acts flavor ... I commend it as must reading for any who desire confirmation of the power of God and knowledge of the reward of a Spirit-led life. -John D. He committed himself to following God "unto the horizon” and never wavered in his dedication or determination. Rochunga knew that to bring the Word of God to all his tribesmen, he must acquire an education. His quest for knowledge began at the age of ten with a 96-mile trek through the jungle to a mission school. Later, he went on to get further training in Scotland and the United States. His first encounter with civilization, his perseverance in the face of prejudice and ridicule, his meetings with Indira Gandhi and Prime Minister Nehru , his evangelistic tours of America, and the founding of Bibles for the World—all are part of his fascinating and inspiring story. Rochunga Pudaite is, indeed, God’s tribesman. James and Marti Hefley are free-lance writers who work out of their home in Signal Mountain, Tennessee. They have many books to their credit. After researching an article for Christian Life, we knew that Faith was right—a biography of Ro must be written. Her husband, Doug, was just as enthusiastic and helpful. So was Joe Musser, board member of Bibles for the World, who served for a year as Vice President of Partnership Mission while on leave from his regular job as Director of Creative Projects for Fourmost Productions. Joe provided basic information and set up the first interviews. More recently, the Rev. Weyburn Johnson, Assistant to the President of Bibles for the World, helped by providing information on the mission’s operation. Our primary source was, of course, Rochunga Pudaite.
