This story depicts the life of Joseph, who, despite being unjustly imprisoned by his master Potiphar, continued to be faithful and helpful. Even in prison, Joseph's diligence and kindness were evident as he was tasked by the chief jailer to manage the prison's affairs. Because God was with Joseph, the prison flourished under his care. The king's baker and chief cupbearer were also imprisoned, and Joseph helped them interpret their dreams. He foretold the cupbearer's restoration to the king's favor in three days, and the baker's death in three days. Both predictions came true. The cupbearer, however, forgot Joseph until the king had a disturbing dream. The cupbearer then remembered Joseph and recounted his ability to interpret dreams. The king summoned Joseph, who explained that the king's dream signified seven years of abundance followed by seven years of famine in Egypt. Joseph advised the king to stockpile food during the abundance and warned of widespread starvation if this wasn't done. Impressed by Joseph's wisdom and recognizing God's presence with him, the king appointed Joseph as the second-in-command of Egypt, thus honoring him greatly.
