The first six chapters of Genocideand Vendetta present the history of theYolla Bolly Country up to 1865,de-scribing the region, the culture of theYuki and their neighbors, and the dep-redations of the white settlers.Intwenty-five years the native popula-tions were nearly extirpated by thewhites'murderous raids and wholesalekidnappings of Indian women and chil-dren and by the fraud and malfeasance (Continued on back flap) PuB11C L1BRARY ) BOSTON By LynwOod Carrancoand Estle Beard UNIVERSITY OF OKLAHOMA PRESS:NORMAN # GenocideandVendetta The Round Valley Warsof Northern California By Lynwood Carranco Fundamentals of Modern English (Dubuque,1963) The Redwood Country:History,Language, and Folklore(Dubuque,1971)Logging the Redwoods (coauthor)(Caldwell,Idaho,1975) Genocide and Vendetta:The Round Valley Wars in Northern California(Nor-man,1981) Library of Congress Cataloging in Publication Data Carranco,Lynwood.Genocide and vendetta.
