Uploaded by Lute

GEDTS® webinar focuses on high-impact indicators for science within GED® test preparation. It explains how assessment targets translate into fine-grained indicators and how application guides what to look for in student work. The session then teaches the scientific method as a practical framework for designing experiments, defining variables, using controls and trials, collecting measurable evidence, and communicating conclusions with tables, graphs, and visuals.

FAQs

What are High Impact Indicators in the GED science context?

High Impact Indicators are important skills widely applicable to science. The webinar notes they may receive light coverage in typical GED® preparation and support straightforward instruction.

How do targets, indicators, and application relate to what students are assessed on?

Assessment targets describe general concepts assessed on the GED® test, while indicators are fine-grained descriptions of individual skills within each target. Application explains what to look for in student work.

What steps are included in teaching the scientific method from this webinar?

The webinar covers observing/researching, defining problems, formulating hypotheses, gathering evidence through experiments with procedures and controls, collecting and analyzing results with appropriate visuals, and writing conclusions that accept or reject the hypothesis.
