GCSE Photography “Identity Project” 2014-2015 “stolen identity” Could I look at identity theft? Online hacking and identity theft -lots of films use this visual theme or use special effects to change peoples image • film/theatre make up process “Identity” “Hidden identity” Could I look at the different ways that people hide their face? • Different cultures that use the head scarf/hijab to hide and conceal their face, how does it make them feel? How does it make others feel? • People who aren’t happy in their ‘own skin’ – use heavy make up or Botox to change how they look, trying to create a new identity for the outside world(does it change their emotions inside or does it mask the problem? “The individual characteristics held by one person. Distorting the images to change them, taking away pieces or obscuring them to change the identity of the person. Merging images together to create a new ‘person’. “Secret Identity” Looking at the way images and facial features are hidden to keep identity a secret. Different ways of covering faces or just a persons eyes to keep their ‘true self’ secret. Looking at different ways to show the secret behind themask – revealing the secret layer to show what is underneath – superheroes unveiling their true self? Using different techniques to obscure the image – different layers of photo editing after the photos have been taken as well as make up/clothing etc. during the photoshoot. Using different clothing and compositions can have a really dramatic effect –having faces concealed in whatever form does cause an emotional reaction – could I use written words layered over images to show how the images make people feel? “Hidden Identity” Exploring make up and body image doesn’t have to use lots of make up during the photo shoot – it could be used afterwards? Looking at objects and how they relate to the person their identity. I could look at how places have an impact on a persons identity– where they feel ‘at home’ Merging images together to show the person being apart of their environment “My Identity” “Reflecting on my Research” After looking at the different elements from my mind map in visual form it has helped me to decide which direction I would like to explore further. I am really interested in looking at an individual person – everything about them and what makes them unique.. What forms their identity. looking at the different visual images for my research has given me ideas for developing the idea further – I could also look at the person in depth, what they want to become, how they would like to be seen by others as well as the objects and material objects that reflect their identity. I want to be able to take lots of different photographs including portraits, for this reason I will use other people in my family for this project rather than just myself. “looking at objects” The following image
