FELIX CULPA by Jeremy Gavron is a magical, moving novel built from lines taken from a hundred great works of literature. It follows a writer tracking a boy recently released from prison, later discovered dead, and explores whether the writer will lose his own life. The story demonstrates how meaning can be created through sound, rhythm, elision, omission, reference, and allusion, and examines what happens when we lose the narrative of our own life and fall into someone else’s.
