Dredged sediments face limited reuse because their physico-chemical properties hinder safe applications, creating management challenges for large dredging volumes worldwide. This study assessed ornamental plant growing media made by co-composting sediment (S) with green waste (GW) at 1:1 and 3:1 ratios. Eco-toxicological tests, microbial community structure analyses, and pilot-scale plant growth of Photinia x fraseri were performed. Co-composting increased bacterial, fungal, and archaeal diversity, showed no substantial eco-toxicological impacts, and enabled excellent plant growth, supporting a sustainable use of dredged sediments.
