Sep 28, 2026

Doctor De Soto, a skilled mouse dentist, is renowned for his exceptional work, providing pain-free dental care to a wide variety of animals. Assisted by his wife, he manages a unique practice capable of accommodating patients ranging from tiny moles to massive creatures. To maintain safety, he strictly refuses to treat animals that pose a danger to mice, such as cats. The narrative begins when a well-dressed fox arrives at his office seeking help for a painful jaw injury, challenging the dentist's cautious professional boundaries. This charming children's story, written and illustrated by William Steig, explores themes of professionalism, empathy, and the cleverness required to navigate precarious situations, making it a classic piece of literature for young readers.
