DEXPI - P&ID Specification - Version 1.3 - Released by the DEXPI Initiative on June 1, 2021

Oct 28, 2026

DEXPI P&ID Specification defines a standardized approach for representing piping and instrumentation diagrams using a common information model. It introduces key overview and concepts, including motivation, objectives, and expectations, then details modeling concepts such as UML and reusable patterns. Implementation guidance is provided through Proteus schema with primitive types, classes, and predefined or custom attributes, including reference and composition attributes. The document further covers the DEXPI information model, package structures, and plant-related structures for consistent engineering data.
