Derive Workshop - Matrix Algebra and Linear Algebra - Workshop Matrix Algebra and Linear Algebra

Oct 15, 2026

Derive Workshop: Matrix Algebra and Linear Algebra integrates the Derive computer algebra system into instruction on matrix and linear algebra. It provides a guide to using Derive to write algebraic expressions, create and edit graphs, manage files, compute derivatives and definite or indefinite integrals, and plot polar graphs. Additional Derive-driven sections cover matrix algebra, linear systems exercises, maximization in linear programming, graphing strategies, and the Simplex Method, including examples and a LINPRO utility stack plus a reference list.

Thesystem is easy to learn and provides the user with a tool forworking with mathematics on an elementary or advanced level. Itwill perform symbolic operations in algebra,trigonometry,calcu-lus,vectors and matrices. The graphing package allows for 2 or3 dimension plots. The software also contains many utility files which are usedfor specialized topics such as Bessel functions,Orthogonalpolynomials and Fesnel integrals. The user also has the option of creating utility files todeal with a topic requiring mathematical operations. This paperincludes such a utility file designed to solve linear programmingproblems. The utility file is designed to encourage the user tomaster the techniques necessary to solve a linear programmingproblem while e
