FAQs

What is the special ticket luncheon and what are the ticket conditions?

The text lists tickets as $5.50 each, specifies mailing requires a check and a self-addressed stamped envelope received by the Club Office by Tuesday, April 18th, and states unpaid reservations cannot be held after 5 p.m. Thursday, April 20th. It also warns there is no guarantee tickets will be available at the door.

How does the address describe how the Depression and World War II shaped its generation?

It states that many people went away to World War II, and when they returned in 1945 and 1946 they became a different kind of generation. It argues that the Depression and the war were key factors in developing a particular perspective and worldview.

Why does the speaker say the generation’s experience cannot be shared with today’s young people?

The text claims that it is counter-productive to try to convey the meaning of that experience to today’s youth, emphasizing that war was not what war was to that generation.
