Holidays provided bywww.holidayinsights.com December RVC Column RVC Rich Olcott Ah, December, all that election to-do is done with and we can get onwith being sane and having a life. Well, except for in Mensa. Many ofour Local Groups have Nomination Committees now seeking candidatesfor next year’s officer positions. If they come to you, please say, “Yes.”The more you put into Mensa, the more you’ll get out of it – fun, growth, and the satisfaction of a job well done. American Mensa is looking for candidates, too, but there’s noNomComm. Instead we now use the petition system. Any member ofAmerican Mensa can apply to be a candidate for any of the electivepositions. If you’ve got Internet connectivity, the good news is that the2019 petition and election process has been moved online. If you don’thave access to the Internet, that’s also the bad news – you can obtainpaper copies from the National Office but. The whole procedure is laidout online atus.mensa.org/lead/amc/elections/2019-board-election/ .Links to the forms are there, too, and they can be filled in and returnedelectronically. Except for the Candidate Signatures Petition form. People actuallyhave to put ink to paper for that one – 100 signatures if you’re runningfor RVC, 250 if you’re running for any of the other offices. But even thepetitions can be downloaded, signed, scanned and uploaded, or mailedin if that’s what works better for you. Start with the Candidate Checklist, a nicely constructed step-by-steproadmap that tells you what needs to be done by when. I’ll be happy toanswer any questions you might have and give you whatever help you need along the way, especially if you’re in a paper-only situation. Heck,I’ll even sign your petition – Greg and I each signed the other’s when weran against each other two years ago. Quick report on the October AMC tele-meeting. Discussion was spiritedbut civil as we worked through several issues. Your 2019 ballot willinclude several proposed amendments to the Bylaws. Probably themost important
