# PROMULGATED TO GIVE EFFECT TO THE PROVISIONS OF THE CONVENTION OF 13 JULY 1931 FORLIMITING THE MANUFACTURE AND REGULATING THE DISTRIBUTION OF NARCOTIC DRUGS,ASAMENDED BY THE PROTOCOL OF 11 DECEMBER 1946 NOTE BY THE SECRETARY-GENERAL --In accordance with Article 21 of the Convention of 13 July 1931 for Limiting theManufacture and Regulating the Distribution of Narcotic Drugs,as amended by the Protocol of 11 December 1946,the Secretary-General has the honour to communicate the following legislative text. PROCLAMATION No.36 of 1953* TO EXTEND THE APPLICATION OF PART IV OF THEDANGEROUS DRUGS ORDINANCE,1950,TO CERTAINDRUGS. In the Name of Her Majesty ELIZABETH II,by theGrace of GOD of the United Kingdom of GreatBritain and Northern Ireland and of Her other Realmsand Territories_Queen,Head of the Commonwealth,Defender of the Faith, and c., and c., and c., HILARY BLOOD- By His Excellency Sir HILARY RUDOLPH ROBERTBLOOD,Knight Grand Cross of the Most ExcellentOrder of the British Empire,Knight Commander ofthe Most Distinguished Order of Saint George,Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over theColony of Mauritius and its Dependencies, and c., and c., and c., WHEREAS by Section 10 of the Dangerous DrugsOrdinance,1950,it is enacted that if the Governor issatisfied,on representation made to him in that behalf,that any new derivative of morphine or cocaine or ofany salts of morphine or cocaine or any other alkaloidof opium or any other drug of whatever kind is,or islikely to be,productive,if improperly used,or iscapable of being converted into a substance which is,or is likely to be,productive,if improperly used,ofill-effects,substantially of the same character ornature as,or analogous to,those produced by thesubstances mentioned in Section 9 of the said Or-dinance,the Governor may by Proclamation declare # LAWS AND REGULATIONS MAURITIUS Communicated by the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland that Part IV of the said Ordinance shall apply to thatnew derivative or alkaloid or other drug in the samemanner as it applies to the drugs mentioned in the saidSection 9: AND WHEREAS I am satisfied,on representationmade to me,that the drugs specified in the Scheduleto this Proclamation are,orare likely tobe,productive,if improperly used,or are capable of being convertedinto a substance which is,or is likely to be productive,if improperly used,of ill-effects substantially of thesame character or nature as,or analogous to,thoseproduced by the substances mentioned in the saidSection 9: NOW,THEREFORE,in pursuance of the powers con-ferred upon me by section 19 of the said Ordinance,Ido hereby proclaim and order as follows:- (1)This Proclamation may be citedas the DangerousDrugs Ordinance(Application)(No.2)Proclamation1953. (2)Part IV of the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance,1950,shall apply to the drugs specified in the Schedule tothis Proclamation in the same manner as the saidPart IV applies to the Drugs mentioned in section 9of that Ordinance.
