CUE can not hope to publish all of the best prose poems written in comingyears-indeed our modest size and a visionto publish in each issue largesamples of work by a relatively small number of poets prohibits such a claim. We can promise though, along with our friend Brian Clements whosejournal,Sentence, also makes its debut, that we will hasten into view allmanner and style of prose poems, regardless of camp, creed or aesthetic. What fine poets do not appear on our pages we hope to highlight in reviews, interviews and guest commentary. The editors have spent more than a year turning an idea into this issue.Attimes we solicited both insight and inspirarion from a number of friends andfellow poets. These friends are Boyer Rickel,Barbara Cully,Jane Miller,Jamey Aiken,Adam Chiles,Miriam Benatti, and Stephanie Balzer, and wewourld like to thank them here.CUE'would also like to thank the College ofHumanities at the University of Arizona and,in particular,Dean ChuckTatum for his generous funding of this project. To you and to you, ourreaders, please find in these pages both pleasure and profit.
