Construction 4.0: A Guide for Digital Transformation outlines the fourth industrial revolution applied to the construction sector, framing it as a meta-concept spanning production and construction, cyber-physical systems, and digital technologies. It explains the transformation journey supported by national initiatives and presents a strategy structure built on three technology clusters: Modelling and Simulation, Digitalisation and Virtualisation, and Smart Construction. It also positions the guide as a framework for implementing Construction 4.0 in Malaysia and links adoption to productivity, quality, safety, and sustainability outcomes aligned with ESG goals.

The construction industry has also benefitted from this progress and is, thus, evolving at a rapid pace, resulting in Construction 4.0. This term refers to the latest fourth industrial revolution (IR4 .0) in the construction sector, which has gained significant recognition recently. Although the Construction 4.0 definition has dynamically evolved, it can still be described as a meta-concept that embraces major areas of transformation- production and construction, cyber-physical systems, and digital technologies. To propel innovation and digitalisation forward, the government has implemented severalinitiativestosupportandadvancethe revolution agenda, including the National 4.0 Industry Policy (Industry4WRD), Shared Prosperity Vision 2

FAQs

What does Construction 4.0 mean in the guide?
