A personal, experience-based preface describes college as the next step after high school and frames the book as practical guidance drawn from the authors’ real struggle to find direction. The narrative recounts a 1997 move to Northwest College with only $100, navigating financial uncertainty, and later returning to complete advanced education. The authors invite readers to take what helps—whether small pieces or none—while sharing strategies for persisting through school even with very limited resources.
