Sep 15, 2026

The Classic Learning Test (CLT) is a college entrance examination designed for 11th and 12th graders, offering an alternative to the SAT and ACT. In Florida, students can leverage the CLT for college applications within the state and nationwide, to fulfill graduation requirements, to secure Bright Futures scholarships, and to become eligible for dual enrollment programs. The CLT can be taken online from home by registering at cltexam.com, with test dates available almost every month. Schools also have the option to administer the CLT, and students are encouraged to inquire about their school's plans. The CLT is accepted for admissions at over 250 colleges and universities across the U.S., including many in Florida. For Bright Futures scholarships, a CLT score of 96 or above qualifies for the Florida Academic Scholarship (FAS), while a score of 84 or above qualifies for the Florida Medallion Scholarship (FMS). Key distinctives of the CLT include its online administration from home or school, a short 2-hour duration, free and unlimited score sharing with colleges, lower fees compared to other exams, unique scholarships covering up to full tuition, and accessibility for public, private, or homeschooled students.
