CLT-10 Contact Checker Manual

Sep 15, 2026

CLT-10 Contact Checker is a test interface used to verify contact quality on a sorting machine by checking third harmonic test results through CLT-10 or CLT-20 component linearity test equipment. It evaluates the 10 kHz current output at the measuring terminals and compares measured LOW/HIGH/GO conditions against an NG limit level. The manual explains how to set limit thresholds manually and via RS232, outlines timing and judgment behavior, and provides connection, specifications, interface signals, and cautions for low 10 kHz voltage or high resistance.

********** CLT-10 CONTACT CHECKER ********** CLT-10 CONTACT CHECKER is used for contact check on sorting machine for checking Third Harmonic Test by using CLT-10 or CLT-20 Component Linearity Test Equipment. If component under test is measured without connecting at the measuring terminals, both of the LIMIT“LOW”and“High” outputs should go ON and LIMIT“GO” should go OFF before end of measurement. The output of AMPHENOL connector on rear panel is connected to sorting machine, if D-sub-25-pin-female connector(Option) is used, the output is same as CLT-10 I/O output after checked contact. Limit Level Limit Setting (by manual) RS232/manual Switch Trigger Switch(LED on at Trig. input)(LED on at RS232 selected) D-sub-9-pin-female AMPHENOL (14-pin-female) D-sub-25-pin-male (To CLT-10) CLT-10 has output of 10 KHz current and this interface is checking this current output between without component and with component at measuring terminal under applied 10KHz Voltage. The 10 KHz current output has residual level even without test component at measuring terminal under applied 10KHz Voltage, and the level changes depend on 10KHz voltage and impedance range. First of all, it needs to know the residual level without component under applied 10 KHz voltage at each measurement. The NG level can be set the value of little bit higher than this residual level at each measurement. Caution: If the 10 KHz voltage is low or measuring high resistance value, like more than 1M ohm, sometimes it is no difference between residual level and actual measured level, in that case, it is not possible to check it. Setting a. Manual operation 1. Connect between CLT-10 and Contact Checker by cable with D-sub25pin connectors and set RS232/manual Switch to OFF. 2. Apply 10KHz Voltage of CLT-10 without component at measuring terminal by continuous measuring mode, and find out residual voltage on Limit Level Meter of Contact Checker when LED“GO” changes to“NG” or LED“NG” change to“GO” by changing Limit Setting Dial under pushing Trigger Switch necessary times. This Voltage at changing point should be residual Voltage without component. (Contact Checker doesn’t work by continuous measuring mode, it works only Trig mode. ) 3. Set limit level 5-20% higher voltage than residual Voltage without component by Limit Setting Dial. Caution : If setting level is higher than the voltage level with the component, CONTACT CHECKER judges no contact, therefore set the LIMIT level between level without and with measuring component. 4. Set limit level again when measure other 10KHz voltage or other impedance range. If don’t need contact check, adjust to 0V by using Limit Setting Dial. b. Setting Limit Level by RS232 . （See Page7） The limit level can be set by RS232 at RS232/manual Switch to ON. See the manual for ANDDAC. 1. FAQs

What is the purpose of the CLT-10 Contact Checker in the test system?

It checks contact on a sorting machine by evaluating third harmonic test output using CLT-10 or CLT-20 equipment, focusing on the 10 kHz current output at the measuring terminals.

How is the limit level (NG threshold) set in manual operation?

First measure the residual voltage without a component, then set the limit level 5–20% higher than that residual voltage using the Limit Setting Dial, and adjust again for different 10 kHz voltages or impedance ranges.

Why can contact checking fail at low 10 kHz voltage or very high resistance values?

If the 10 kHz voltage is low or the impedance is very high (e.g., more than 1 MΩ), the difference between residual level and the actual measured level may be too small, making discrimination impossible.
