A Level 6 retold collection opening with preview questions and a first story set in a railway carriage. A small group of children and their aunt travel with a young bachelor stranger who judges their conversations. The narration contrasts the aunt’s “Don’t/Why” dialogue patterns, the children’s questions and behavior, and the bachelor’s skepticism as the aunt begins a moral story about a good girl. The scene tests listeners’ interest through interruptions, judgment, and debate about whether goodness guarantees reward.
