Celebi rescues the forest Pokémon in the Battle Frontier when a devastating fire traps them between walls of flame. Celebi transforms the flames into green thorny vines, then dissolves them into light droplets so the forest can recover. After being struck by a collapsing tree, Celebi uses its power to travel through time, creating protective vines to shield and heal itself. The story then shifts to Ash and friends arriving at the Cycling Road, only to find the route closed due to a mudslide and redirected toward Fuschia City.
