Step 2: Find the answer choice that shares this trait. Step 3: Select the correct option and check the explanation. 􀂐 Golden Tip In classification questions, first state the common rule of the given figures, then eliminate any answer choice that breaks even one part of that rule . Question 1 Choose the shape that follows the same rule OPTIONS CAT4 Prep | Figure Classification | Level B Sample Trusted by 100,000+ Students | Crafted with ❤ by CAT4 Prep Progress: ●○○○ 1 of 8 Figure Classification – Question 1 Step-by-Step Explanation The Rule: All three shapes are filled with straight, parallel lines going in one direction. The correct answer must also be a shape filled with simple parallel lines, not a pattern or an empty outline. Look at the shading in the three shapes-1. The circle is filled with vertical straight lines. 2. The rectangle is filled with horizontal straight lines. 3. The L-shape is also filled with horizontal straight lines. 4. The shapes are different, but the shading is the same type: neat, parallel lines. Compare the options-A – brick pattern, not straight parallel lines. B – criss-cross pattern (lines in two directions) . C – small checkerboard squares. D – a triangle filled with straight parallel lines. E – only an outline, with no lines inside. Choose the shape that follows the rule-Only option D has the same kind of shading: a simple shape completely filled with straight, parallel lines in one direction. Conclusion: Therefore, option D is correct. It is the only shape that matches the shading rule of the three example shapes. 􀃻 Question Reference Excellent progress—now continue practising with 100+ similar questions to feel fully prepared for your CAT4 test. Step 1: Identify the pattern in the first row and/or column . Step 2: Observe how each shape transforms across the row/column . Step 3: Find the missing piece that follows the same transformation rule . Step 4: Select the correct answer and verify the pattern . 􀂐 Golden Tip In Figure Matrices, look across rows and columns-each change follows a rule. Apply that rule to find the missing figure . Question 2 Choose the option that follows the same rule OPTIONS CAT4 Prep | Figure Matrices | Level B Sample Trusted by 100,000+ Students | Crafted with ❤ by CAT4 Prep Progress: ●○○○ 2 of 8 Figure Matrices – Question 2 Step-by-Step Explanation The Rule: The black dot moves around the edge of each shape, one step at a time, in a clockwise direction, in every column. Track the dot in the first column. On the square, the dot moves clockwise: from the top-left, to the top-right, and then down to the bottom edge. Check the second column. On the pentagon, the dot also moves one step at a time in the same clockwise direction: from the lower-left side, up the left side, and then to the top. Apply the rule to the last column. On t

FAQs

How do you approach Figure Classification questions?

Identify the common trait shared by the three shapes, then choose the option that follows the same rule. Eliminate any answer that breaks even one part of the rule and verify using the explanation.

What rule is used for Figure Matrices problems in this practice set?

Track how the black dot moves across each row or column following a clockwise sequence. Apply the same transformation to determine the missing figure’s dot position.

How should you solve Figure Analysis (paper folding) questions?

Imagine how the paper folds and unfolds. Focus on where each hole or mark should appear, including the mirror positions on both sides of the fold line, then compare with the answer choices.
