A children’s picture-story tells how Anna and Carlos each try to surprise the other with a small gift on a sunny summer day. Anna goes to Carlos’s house but finds no one, meets the puppy Pepper, and gets splashed with mud. Carlos visits Anna’s place next, hears no response, and encounters Anna’s fuzzy kittens. The narrative uses playful dialogue and simple events to show how misunderstandings can still lead to warm, humorous moments.
