Oct 29, 2026

Building Information Modeling (BIM) report prepared in August 2020, funded under a U.S. Department of Energy outreach and assistance contract for Phase 0 activities. The document outlines the project introduction and methodology, surveys BIM software commonly used in construction (including U.S. guidance, Autodesk and its products, and the role of plug-ins), and analyzes interoperability problems, user purposes, and code compliance gaps. It further addresses standards and adoption influences in Europe, energy efficiency topics, training needs, and prioritized improvement areas, ending with a summary, conclusion, endnotes, and appendices.
